“Hero to Zero and Back”…
The life and times of Korky Nelson
Korky Nelson’s roots in Silicon Valley date back to 1968. In 1974 he became a 6’10 high school all-American in baseball and basketball. After graduating from Santa Clara University in 1979 and drafted by the NBA Phoenix Suns, he had a successful 13-year professional basketball career that began in Nice, France and finished in Tel Aviv, Israel.
After surviving the 1991 Gulf War in Tel Aviv, being honored by the President of Israel an “Award of Bravery” and suffering a creer ending injury he felt it was time to return home to the Bay Area to start his next career.
He parlayed his dedication, international relationships and skill sets to begin giving back to our youth as a volunteer coordinator for multiple group/recover homes from San Jose to Gilroy, while at the same time working for a green tech startup called a “reverse engineering aerosol can technology” in Morgan Hill to being instrumental in procuring the first contract with the City of San Jose.
His size, personality, passion and commitment continues to bless others, bringing forth innovative ideas, disruptive “green” technologies and sustainable agriculture solutions that have worldwide impact.
He is an international expert negotiator, motivator and team builder who deals in multimillion-dollar contracts. A proven “overachiever” with strong strategic-planning skills to create profitable “win-win” partnerships. His biggest asset is his unique ability to open doors at the highest level, domestically and internationally and available to travel anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice.
His humanitarian and outreach side includes trips to China and Israel as a Goodwill Ambassador. He has also been involved in major VIP Events such as “The Masters” at Augusta, The Olympics and the ATT Pebble Beach. He also spearheaded a Hollywood Celebrity Golf and Dinner Cabaret Show for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts, as well as proudly supported outreach programs for Athletes against Autism, National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans, Cure Autism Now. This gentle giant has spent his life being a positive role model for the disadvantaged youth, special ed students plus always honoring our first responders and under recognized veterans who risk their life for America
